Watch the trailer for Nas’ Time Is Illmatic documentary

All this year Nas has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of his landmark debut, Illmatic. In addition to a deluxe reissue and an extensive tour, the festivities include a making-of documentary entitled Nas: Time Is Illmatic. In anticipation of its October 1st debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, the film’s full-length trailer has surfaced online. Watch below.

Directed by multimedia artist One9 and written by Erik Parker, Time Is Illmatic “traces Nas’ influences and the insurmountable odds he faced in creating the greatest work of music from hip-hop’s second golden era,” according to a press release. The film was produced in part by Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Productions.

The film will screen across the country beginning October 2nd. Several of these dates will feature a full performance of the album from Nas.
