In the latest installment of The A.V. Club’s Undercover, recently reunited emo icons American Football offer their take on Elvis Costello’s “Alison”.

Prior to the performance, lead singer Mike Kinsella joked that the 1977 My Aim Is True standout “is the one song I can sing” out of the list of available cover songs. While Kinsella’s voice has a little more rasp to it than Costello’s 1977 croon, the band’s version is still right on with their clean-toned guitar jam that updates the original’s mood.

Beginning this weekend at the Pygmalion Music Festival in Champaign, IL, American Football will embark on a short North American tour. Click here for dates.

In other Elvis Costello cover news, Deer Tick will take on the entirety of My Aim Is True during their six show residency at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York City.
