Earlier this week, Damien Rice announced what instantly became one of the fall’s most anticipated releases in My Favourite Faded Fantasy, the Irish troubadour’s first new album in eight years. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album is set to arrive November 11th via Warner Bros. Records.
Rice initially teased My Favourite Faded Fantasy by sharing a two-minute teaser of the title track. Now, he’s let loose the full six-minute version. News Writer Josh Terry described the track as such: “Like most Damien Rice songs, it starts off slow, with the singer cooing over slightly-plucked acoustic guitar notes. Then, after Rice mournfully sings, ‘I know someone who could play the part, but it wouldn’t be the same,’ a blast of strings, backing vocals, and booming drums emerge to make for a moving crescendo.”
