Death From Above 1979 share video for “Trainwreck 1979” — watch

Death From Above 1979 have shared the video for “Trainwreck 1979”, the sweltering lead single from their first album in 10 years, The Physical World. In the clip, a young woman leads her life as if soundtracked by a DFA 1979 concert: She roams around town, learns to play the bass, and even busts out some rather fluidic skateboard moves.

Perhaps it’s just the brain of this culture-addled writer, but the whole vibe and aesthetic makes this look like commercial, leaving me waiting for a Beats or McDonald’s logo to pop up at any point. But, hey, corporate sponsorship can totally be a good thing; maybe it’ll mean the duo won’t wait another decade between albums.

And speaking of TV, DFA 1979 appeared on Wednesday night’s episode of the Late Show with David Letterman. It served as the unofficial kick-off to the duo’s upcoming world tour, which runs runs from early next month through the end of the year. Consult the full schedule here.
