Hudson Mohawke shares song “Brainwave” — listen

Next week, Hudson Mohawke is set to drop his new solo EP, Chimes, via Warp Records. In anticipation, the former TNGHT member and current G.O.O.D. Music signee has shared a new song entitled “Brainwave”.

Whereas the EP’s lead single “Chimes” was a monster trap banger, this latest offering sees the Scottish producer taking on a more tempered, meditative approach. Instead of beat-heavy and thunderous, “Brainwave” is a smoldering, ambient number whose bleeping, laser-like synths seem to rise and fall like the oscillations of — you guessed it — a brainwave. It’s almost as though HudMo’s actually peered into a person’s cerebrum, witnessed the various neurons popping and firing off signals to one another, and then set the whole scene to music.
