In a July interview with GQ, Kanye West said his highly-anticipated seventh album would most likely arrive in the fall, with lead single “All Day” coming “in the next couple weeks.” We haven’t heard much from Kanye in the two months since then, however, recent evidence suggests the album is finished and in the hands of his record label, Def Jam.
As recently as last month, Kanye was in Mexico working on the album alongside a collection of collaborators that included Pusha T, Theophilus London, Mike Dean, and Travis Scott. He recently returned to Los Angeles to teach a class at Los Angeles Trade Technical College as part of court-mandated community service. During one particular session, according to Complex, Kanye divulged to students that “he’s waiting for [the album] to come out,” insinuating that it’s complete and now awaiting release from Def Jam.
Last night, Kanye previewed the entire album during a party at Paris Fashion Week. According to a post on Instagram from Theophilus London, Kanye played “his new album three times in a dark room of 20 people last night.” (If you recall, Kanye hosted similar listening parties for Yeezus just weeks before its release.)
In a subsequent tweet, London said he appears on Kanye’s new album, including the first single. He also said Kanye is constantly tinkering with the album, noting, “it’s changed a million times.”
Tl;dr Yeezy season is approachin’.
