The Mercury Prize is the annual award given to the best album from the United Kingdom and Ireland. Last year, James Blake took home the honors and other past recipients include The xx, Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Alt-J, Primal Scream, Badly Drawn Boy, and Antony and the Johnsons.
The nominees for 2014 were announced today and include Damon Albarn’s Everyday Robots, FKA twigs’ LP1, Bombay Bicycle Club’s So Long, See You Tomorrow, Jungle’s Jungle, and Anna Calvi’s One Breath.
The winner will be announced on October 29th.
