Most news surrounding Arcade Fire this year has had to do with Reflektor, mainly revolving around the endless stream of covers delivered on the world tour behind the record. (Oh, and there was that bit when Suburbs got named Greatest Summer Album of All Time.) In all the hubbub, it’s been easy to forget that 2014 is actually the 10th anniversary of the band’s debut record, Funeral. But you can be sure the band hasn’t forgotten.
The above mural appeared in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn earlier this week at North 10th and Driggs (via Reddit). Merge Records has yet to say if this is anything but a nod to Funeral‘s original September 14th, 2004 release date, though it’s worth noting the label has been reissuing classics from their catalog as part of their own 25th anniversary celebration.
Update: The mural was created by Tracy Maurice, the same artist behind the album’s original artwork.
