With drummer Tim Alexander recovering from heart surgery, Primus tapped Tool’s Danny Carey to fill in during their current tour. Last night at Chicago’s Concord Music Hall, Carey joined the band onstage for the first time.
It didn’t take long for Primus to test their replacement drummer’s chops by sticking a drum solo in the middle of the set. They also gave a nod to Carey’s other band with a cover of Tool’s “Ænema”.
Below, watch footage of Carey’s solo and the Tool cover.
