Since October’s release of his debut album, Guilt Trips, producer Ryan Hemsworth has kept rather busy: He’s remixed Beyoncé, Lorde, and Danny Brown, teamed up with Kitty and The Underachievers, and even launched his own label, Secret Songs. Now, the Canadian producer is gearing up to release a new album, previewing it today with the new single “Snow In Newark”.
Featuring vocals from Mad Decent/Downtown Records artist Dawn Golden, the track is wistful and mellow, and seems to capture a more sentimental side to the normally chaotic and bubbly Hemsworth. “It’s about trying to get back to my first love, emo music, actually,” he told Vogue. “Maybe it’s a reaction to all the party music out there now, but I just needed to do something a little quieter — every song I do is in a minor key.”
