Earlier today, a handful of images surfaced online purporting to show the new Batmobile from the set of DC/Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck’s (Batman) ride looked like a nice mix between the Dark Knight trilogy’s Tumbler and the Tim Burton-era speedster, but the images were out of focus Instagram shots that couldn’t possibly do the vehicle justice. Now the film’s director Zack Snyder has taken to Twitter to rectify that situation.
Much of what we know about Batman v Superman implies that the filmmakers are taking a lot of cues from Frank Miller’s classic The Dark Knight Returns miniseries, and the new Batmobile is no different. This thing is a tank, with a front-mounted turret and Lord-knows what other weapons hidden under that angular black shell. It’s not the flexible-necked behemoth of Miller’s book, but we can definitely see this giving ol’ Clark Kent a bit of an uneasy feeling.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the semi-sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel, is due out March 25th, 2016. The film stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and many more as DC builds towards the inevitable and hotly anticipated Justice League film.
