Shortly after the release of Kanye West’s video for “Bound 2”, actors Seth Rogen and James Franco felt compelled to recreate it shot for shot. The result was our second favorite video in all of 2013.

In the latest installment of Jimmy Fallon’s “Tales from Set” online video series, Rogen and Franco shared the backstory behind their epic spoofing. According to the duo, they filmed the video over the course of three one-hour lunch breaks while shooting their new feature film, The Interview. Originally, Franco was to play Kim Kardashian, but they ultimately switched because Rogen has a “hairy back.”

Months later, Rogen ran into Kanye at a New York City hotel. Kanye told Rogen he thought the video was funny, and upon learning they had spent three hours making it, he added, “Man you guys spent more time working on it than we did.” Kanye also told Rogen that the original video was “supposed to be bad … bad for the purpose of being bad.”

Rogen and Franco also confirmed the rumor that Kanye wanted them to recreate the video at his wedding to Kim Kardashian. He explained to them over the phone, “I have this idea … I don’t know, but maybe you could come out and do the Bound thing. I have the motorcycle and you guys can do it live.” However, after “15 seconds of silence,” Kanye reconsidered the idea, saying, “I hear that coming out of my mouth and maybe that’s not the best idea.”

Below, watch the full interview with Rogen and Franco, along with their “Bound 2” spoofing.
