Just a few days ago, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart released “Poison Touch”, a Taylor Swift-inspired B-side from their latest album, Days of Abandon. That song is one of the bonus tracks found on the forthcoming deluxe edition of Abandon, due out digitally tomorrow (September 23rd) from Yebo Music. Now, the band has revealed another bonus cut in “Summer of Dreams”.
As you’d expect from a song with such a title, “Summer of Dreams” stands nicely within the jangly pop sphere frontman Kip Berman returned to on Abandon. Still, there’s a dusky feeling to the strolling bass and falling background vocals, making it fitting that we’re hearing this track just as fall officially creeps in. “All the dreams are you,” Berman coos as the summer light fades. “Tell me they are gonna come.” Well, the seasons may be changing, but this cut will let you hold onto those dreams of summertime romance just a bit longer. Take a listen below.
“Summer of Dreams” is one of five previously unreleased songs included on the Days of Abandon deluxe edition. The new tracks will also be compiled on a limited edition 10-inch vinyl dubbed, Abandonment Issue, which is available on the band’s web store and will be sold at their upcoming shows with The New Pornographers.
