Arcade Fire recently concluded the world tour behind their latest album, Reflektor. So what’s the future hold for the band?
Frontman Win Butler recently appeared on Canadian sports talk show Melnick in the Afternoon to promote the upcoming Pop Vs. Jock charity basketball game, which he organizes annually with his brother Will. However, a good portion of the interview was still dedicated to discussing Reflektor, working with David Bowie, and the band’s relationship with artists such as David Byrne and Bruce Springsteen.
When Butler mentioned that James Murphy would be DJing at the Pop Vs. Jock afterparty, host Mitch Melnick noted how the LCD Soundsystem frontman retired from rock ‘n’ roll at age 40 and asked if Butler, age 34, had similar plans. Butler responded:
“I mean, I never want to put out something that’s not great. This last tour we did is the best, it’s the best shows we’ve ever played, so I feel like we’re kind of right in our prime right now — so I’m not really thinking about retirement yet ’cause we’re kind of like firing on all cylinders at this point.”

Butler previously mentioned that he already had ideas for new music and planned to hit the studio following the completion of the Reflektor tour.
