David Lynch to revive Twin Peaks for nine new episodes in 2016

David Lynch is reviving his cult classic TV show, Twin Peaks, 25 years after the show aired its last episode. According to Variety, nine brand new episodes written and directed by Lynch will be aired on Showtime in 2016.

“The new [episodes] will be set in the present day and continue storylines established in the second season,” Variety notes. “Sources emphasize that the new episodes will not be a remake or a reboot but will reflect the passage of time since viewers last checked in with key characters.”

Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost confirmed news of the show’s revival on Twitter. His announcement was accompanied by a brief video teaser, which you can watch below.
