Foo Fighters cover Roky Erickson’s “Two Headed Dog” — watch

Foo Fighters recorded their new album Sonic Highways in eight different American cities. However, their time in the studio wasn’t strictly limited to new music. While in Austin, Dave Grohl and co. hit Austin City Limits’ original television studio, where they laid down a cover of Roky Erickson’s “Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer)” to mark the 40th season of the iconic music program. Austin City Limits’ new season premieres this Saturday, October 4th, with an episode featuring Beck. It’s preceded by a new two-hour TV special entitled Austin City Limits Celebrates 40 Years, which airs Friday, October 3rd at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters’ new album Sonic Highways is due out November 10th. A corresponding HBO mini-series documenting the show’s creation will air beginning October 17th, and ACL is one of the studios featured in the series.
