Between the release of their acclaimed album, Singles, and their absolutely captivating Letterman performance of “Seasons (Waiting On You)”, Future Islands have gone from fun synthrock outfit to critical darlings (and GIF-worthy viral wunderkinds) in just a matter of months. The band continues to capitalize on their hype, this week releasing a unique orchestral live session in which they’re backed by a string quartet and brass section.

In the four-song set, which was filmed by Nick Cave: 20,000 Days On Earth directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard at 4AD’s studios, Future Islands offer up reimagined takes of Singles highlights. The new strings and horns add an extra layer of depth and beauty, making for a performance that, while understated, is still just as impassioned as their dynamic live show. Watch it below.
