The soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy has almost been as big of a hit as the film itself. Star Lord’s personal playlist, aka Awesome Mix Vol. 1, is one of year’s best-selling releases, having moved over 400,000 copies in digital, CD, and vinyl formats. But only now is the soundtrack receiving release on its format of choice: cassette tape.
Disney will release the limited-edition cassette — its first such release in the format since 2003 — for Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on November 28th. According to Billboard, the package also includes a digital download of the soundtrack — just in case you want to keep the cassette strictly as a collector’s item.
