Alt country songwriter Justin Townes Earle released his fifth album, Single Mothers, to warm reviews just last month. Now, he’s revealed that its companion record, Absent Fathers, due for release on January 15th via Vagrant Records .
Originally intended to be part of a double album with Single Mothers, Absent Fathers began to take on a life of its own as Earle sequenced the records. Though its identity may be separate, the 10-track effort will continue down the personal path laid out by its companion piece.
Earle will support both records with a newly announced US leg of his tour. In anticipation, he’s made available the cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” he did for Australia’s FBi Radio while touring that country. Listen to it below, followed by the Absent Fathers tracklist and new tour dates.
