Last week, Chicago-based rockers Kittyhawk showed off their undeniable brand of emo-inflected indie pop with “Seasonal Abjective Disorder”, a single from their forthcoming album Hello, Again. Today, the band returns another taste in “Vaudeville”.
On the track, Katy Grube’s distinctive and affecting vocals are saddled with the circling riffs of guitarist Erik Czaja, who’s provided similarly great leads for bands like Dowsing and Pet Symmetry. Here, the band masterfully blends Midwestern emo’s beautiful guitar work, pop punk’s saccharine hooks, with an intangible conviction that holds it all together. Listen in below (via Stereogum).
