For 16 years, Max Weinberg served as band leader for Conan O’Brien, helming the Max Weinberg 7 during Conan’s tenure as host of Late Night and The Tonight Show on NBC. However, when Conan signed with TBS in 2010, Weinberg opted to focus his efforts full time on Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
With The E Street Band on hiatus, and Conan’s current drummer James Wormworth “gone missing,” the late-night host enlisted Weinberg once more for a special appearance on tonight’s episode. It marked Weinberg’s debut on Conan’s TBS series, and their first show together in five years.
