Pink Floyd premiere new song “Louder Than Words” — listen

On November 10th, Pink Floyd‘s David Gilmour and Nick Mason will release their first album together in 20 years with The Endless River. In anticipation, they’ve revealed “Louder Than Words” as the first full-length taste of the album. Listen in below.

“Louder Than Words” is the only track on the album to feature lead vocals sung by GIlmour. The lyrics embrace the full history of the band, with GIlmour singing, “We bitch and we fight/ But this thing that we do/ It’s louder than words/ The sum of our parts/ The beat of our hearts/ It’s louder than words.”

Billed as a tribute to multi-instrumentalist Richard Wright, The Endless River utilizes unreleased lyrics and music written by Wright prior to his death in 2008. The album was recorded by Gilmour and Mason in November 2013 alongside Roxy Music guitarist and producer Phil Manzanera. Other contributors include theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking (whose vocals are featured on the track “Talkin’ Hawkin'”) and UK-based electronic string quartet Escala. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Update: The stream is temporarily down, but you can listen to the song at the band’s website. It’s part of the BBC Radio 6 Music interview.
