Scott Walker has been tapped to score the forthcoming directorial debut from actor Brady Corbet (Thirteen, Melancholia), ScreenDaily reports.
Entitled The Childhood of a Leader, the film stars Robert Pattinson (of Twilight fame), along with Tim Roth, Stacy Martin, and Bérénice Bejo. Corbet co-wrote the screenplay alongside Mona Fastvold (The Sleepwalker), while Helena Danielsson (Beyond) and Chris Coen (Shadow Dancer, Funny Games) serve as executive producers.
According to the plot synopsis, Childhood is a “chilling fable about the rise of fascism in the 20th Century,” which centers around a “young American living in France in 1918 whose father is working for the US government on the creation of the Treaty of Versailles. What he witnesses helps mould his beliefs and the film bears witness to the birth of a terrifying ego.”
Walker’s scored just two other films in his lengthy career. He previously penned the soundtrack for French director Leos Carax’s 1999 picture, Pola X, and 2007’s And Who Shall Go to the Ball? And What Shall Go to the Ball?, a piece commissioned by the London dance company CandoCo.

Walker is also gearing up for the release of a collaborative album with sludge rockers Sunn O))). The five-track Soused hits stores on October 21st via 4AD.
