This week brings the release of The Best Day, the first solo album in four years from former Sonic Youth leader Thurston Moore. Spanning eight tracks and recorded with Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe, and James Sedwards, the album features the previously shared tracks “The Best Day” and “Detonation”. Now, the indie rock legend returns with another preview of the new LP with a video for its opening cut, “Speak To The Wild”.

Clocking in at a little over eight minutes, the track features a relentless barrage of chiming guitars with Moore singing uplifting lines like “don’t let the dark get you lost.” However, any hopefulness found in the song itself is quashed by its creepy accompanying visual. In the clip, directed by Santiago Mostyn, a mother and son get lost in the weirdest forest ever. There are strange puddles and an array of nightmare-inducing hooded figures. It’s spooky enough and perfect for pre-Halloween frights. Watch it below.
The Best Day is out October 21st via Matador. Stream it here.
