On December 2nd, Yo La Tengo will celebrate their 30th anniversary as a band with a deluxe reissue of their classic 1993 album, Painful, and a handful of special career-spanning anniversary shows.
Titled Extra Painful, the double LP/CD reissue comes chock-full of bonus material, including over 10 extra tracks, three of which are previously unreleased songs from the original Painful recording sessions. Also included is the “Shaker” 7-inch, photos, the original band-aid sticker, the first YLT Gazette in 14 years, and liner notes from the band and Matador Records’ own Gerard Cosloy. Pre-orders have begun.
After playing Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest in November, Yo La Tengo will kick off their 30th anniversary tour with a two-night residency at New York’s Town Hall, followed by shows in Washington, DC and Philadelphia.
