The members of Audacity have been gigging around their hometown of Fullerton, California since 2001. In that time, they’ve gone through a number of names, including Non-Toxic, The Plaid, and Attachment, before finally settling on their latest moniker. Despite the constant rebranding, they’ve remained the same brash and scrappy band of vitriolic garage rockers over the course of three full-length LPs and a bevy of EPs. Only now, in fact, is Audacity throwing fans for a loop, as they leave behind a more polished recorded sound and work to fully capture their dynamic, sweat-soaked live show.

The band’s first release with this new live-centric M.O. is a brand new 7-inch dubbed “Counting The Days”, due out December 2nd via Suicide Squeeze. The B-Side is a cover of British post-punkers Delta 5’s 1979 single “Mind Your Own Business”, which you can stream below. Audacity’s take isn’t much different from the original — the guitars churn a little harder, the rhythm section trods along as opposed to weaving swiftly, and the song’s core angst is a bit more bratty than emotionally unattached. More than that, it definitely catches Audacity at their best: totally rambunctious and utterly unavoidable.

“Counting The Days” b/w “Mind Your Own Business” will be available digitally and as limited-edition vinyl (500 copies pressed on black, with another 250 on fluorescent pink). Pre-orders are ongoing.
