Out this week, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Grand Theft Auto V feature a bevy of new music from Flying Lotus. In addition to several mixes and the Krayzie Bone collaboration “Medication Meditation”, FlyLo teams with DOOM on “Masquatch”.
There’s always something magical when these two get together (see: “Between Enemies” and “Between Villains”), and “Masquatch” is no different. Over a haunting beat of spooky studio effects and mutilated jazz sounds, DOOM’s oddball rhymes about gangrene and murder are especially dense and gripping. It may only be a two-minute collaboration, but the pair’s basic connection, a lingua franca off all things off-kilter, makes this an especially infectious and impactful 120 seconds. Listen in below.
The expanded GTAV also includes a new single from Jamie Lidel called “Runaway” and the Freddie Gibbs-Mike Dean collaboration “Sellin’ Dope”.
