Death Cab for Cutie performs “Black Sun” on Letterman — watch

The new look Death Cab for Cutie made their TV debut on Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday night. Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, and Jason McGerr, along with new members Dave Depper and Zac Rae, previewed their forthcoming album Kintsugi by performing the lead single “Black Sun”.

For his part, Letterman seemed more interested in whether the Washington-based band had ever climbed Mount Rainier.

Death Cab will release Kintsugi on March 31st via Atlantic Records. In addition to “Black Sun”, the band has offered live performances of album tracks “No Room in Frame” and “The Ghost of Beverly Drive”.

In support of the release, the band recently announced an extensive North American tourConsequence of Sound contributor Dan Bogosian caught their gig in Brooklyn this week and says they successfully demonstrated the ability to survive guitarist Chris Walla’s departure.
