Dutch Uncles share new song “Decided Knowledge” — listen

Dutch Uncles Decided Knowledge

Having built a reputation on a fun and lively sound, Manchester indie pop outfit Dutch Uncles is shifting the focus entirely with its upcoming fourth album, O Shudder. As frontman Duncan Wallis tells it, the 11-track album finds the band “more personal and direct than before,” with “poignant reflections on pregnancy, terrorism, school discos, divorce, health scares, sexual dysfunction and job-seeking.” For a preview of this deeply introspective side, the quintet has shared “Decided Knowledge”.

Through call-and-response vocals, the band laments on both nihilism and trying to find some glimmer of hope in an otherwise bleak existence. Meanwhile, the instrumentation belies every ounce of that emotional pain, popping with flourishes of bright, chunky guitars and vibrant synthesizer hooks. The overall dichotomy has an almost physical effect, leaving you wanting to boogie the night away while also having a real good sob. Listen in below.

O Shudder is due out February 24th via Memphis Industries.
