As Foo Fighters continue on their massive world tour, they aren’t able to bring along the string of A-listers that appeared during Dave Grohl’s rocking birthday extravaganza earlier this month. Instead, the band’s settled for dusting off the hits of those giants of rock.

During Sunday night’s concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Estadio Do Maracanã, Grohl and co. tackled the Rush classic “Tom Sawyer”. For many, Rush are untouchable in terms of covers, but Taylor Hawkins does the best Neil Peart he can with one-fifth the kit. Plus, the extra fury provided by three guitars helped the band rise to the challenge of this most epic prog anthem. Watch fan-shot footage below. (Ed. Note: Foo’s previously accompanied Rush in performing “Tom Sawyer” during their 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.)

That wasn’t the only cover the Foos delivered for the Rio audience; KISS’ “Detroit Rock City” preceded the Rush cover, followed by “Stay With Me” by Faces and “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie. You can watch the entire two-and-a-half hour performance — with “Detroit Rock City” starting at 1:44:00, “Stay With Me” at 1:53:10, and “Under Pressure” at 1:59:30 — and check out the complete setlist below (via YouTube user Edelmar Rock).
