Sharon Jones makes a welcome return to Letterman — watch

The last time Sharon Jones appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, she was just about to put out her fourth album with the Dap-Kings, 2010’s I Learned the Hard Way. In the five years since then, the legendary soul revivalist has battled and overcome cancer, triumphantly returning to the stage after an extended hiatus with the release of last year’s Give the People What They Want.

On Monday evening, Letterman gave the singer a warm welcome back to the show as she performed the album standout “Making Up and Breaking Up”, aided in part by her two back-up singers Saun & Starr (aka the Dapettes), Paul Shaffer, and the CBS Orchestra.
