Swedish folk singer Kristian Matsson, aka The Tallest Man On Earth, has announced details of his fourth studio album. Entitled Dark Bird is Home, the follow-up to 2012’s There’s No Leaving Now hits shelves on May 12th via Dead Oceans.
According to a press release, the 10-track album was recorded “in various countries, studios, and barns, and they carry a weather-worn quality, some dirt and some grit.” During these sessions, Matsson collaborated with several guest singers, including one referred to only as Angel Vocals, all of which helped “add new color to the familiar palette of TTMOE.”
The release goes on to explain that Dark Bird is Matsson “at his most personal and direct, deeper and darker than ever at times,” adding, “Reliably, the melodies and arrangements are sturdy and classic, like old cars and tightly wound clocks. The lyrics and their delivery are both comforting and alarming, like tall trees and wide hills.”
Today’s announcement comes accompanied by an album trailer, which features a snippet of an unspecified album track. Check it out below.
