The Stone Foxes premiere new First Friday single, “Eye for Love” — listen

SF blues rockers drop their latest single leading to their new LP, Twelve Spells

San Francisco blues rockers The Stone Foxes have spent the last eight months debuting a new single every four weeks as part of their First Friday series. At the end of the 12-month cycle, all the songs will be compiled and released as the band’s fourth full-length, appropriately titled Twelve Spells. Today, they share track number nine with “Eye For Love”.

Written by bassist/guitarist Vince Dewald, the track runs along the rise and fall of Elliot Peltzman’s work on the keys. Dewald and Ben Andrews double team the guitars to deliver the band’s trademark barroom-blues sound, accented by Brian Bakalian’s sharp moves on the drums.. Impassioned lyrics about the strength that comes from looking deeper than first glances (“An eye for love make you climb the walls/ and things will never be the same”) are delivered by Shannon Koehler with the same spitting ferocity that makes their live shows such a distinct joy.

“I believe that when you see through the onslaught of prescribed fears in our society, you will see love” Dewald says of the song. “‘Eye For Love’ is about two people developing this keen eye for life. Together they dive into this way of seeing and the question become, ‘What are you looking for?’  Eye For Love fiercely and unforgivingly says you can see it all with an eye for love.” Take a look below.

All of the artwork for the First Friday singles features different DIY super heroes inspired by the band and their fans and designed by SF artist Giuliana Pinto. The “Eye For Love” cover, above, features the mysterious Owl Man. All the singles will be brought together on Twelve Spells for an August 7th release. Pre-orders are going on now, and include First Edition copies featuring live versions, remixes, bonus tracks, and a tour scrap book.
