The X-Files’ David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunite, cover Neil Young, and kiss — watch

It was a magical night in New York City for Mulder and Scully.

This is a big week for fans of The X-Files: Not only has Fox announced the show’s January 2016 return, but Special Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) appear to have reunited, too.

On Tuesday night, Duchovny supported the release of his debut studio album, Hell or Highwater, with a performance at New York City’s The Cutting Room. Late into the gig, he surprised his fans with an on-stage appearance by Ms. Anderson.

Together, the two sang a cozy rendition of Neil Young’s iconic ballad “Helpless”, a request reportedly made by Anderson herself, which ended in one interstellar smooch. Needless to say, it was an image that could bring a smile to the likes of even the Cigarette Smoking Man.
