Norm MacDonald may have already made a film about Captain Sully Sullenberger’s life prior to his miracle landing on the Hudson, but it appears Clint Eastwood will be helming a film about the actual incident.
Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Sully, the story of the American pilot who famously saved the lives of 155 passengers and crew after successfully landing his troubled plane on New York’s Hudson River in 2009.
The film adaptation will be based on a book written by Sullenberg and Jeffrey Zaslow.
Eastwood had planned to follow up his Oscar-nominated American Sniper with a film about the Boston Marathon bombing. However, according to Variety, he “became interested in spotlighting another American hero.”
