Clint Eastwood appears to have found his Sully Sullenberger. As previously reported, the Academy Award-winning director’s next project will be a biopic about the pilot who famously saved the lives of 155 passengers and crew after successfully landing his troubled plane on New York’s Hudson River in 2009, AKA the Miracle on the Hudson.
Deadline reports that none other than Tom Hanks is in negations to portray the hero pilot, Captain Sully Sullenberger. Once done filming the Da Vinci Code follow-up Inferno, Hanks’ slate is clear, meaning he could jump into production before year’s end.
Eastwood had planned to follow up his Oscar-nominated American Sniper with a film about the Boston Marathon bombing. However, according to Variety, he “became interested in spotlighting another American hero.”
The film adaptation will be based on a book written by Sullenberg and Jeffrey Zaslow.
