Aphex Twin shares new AFX track “oberheim blacet1b” — listen

From the producer's first release under the moniker in a decade

The year of Aphex Twin aplenty continues, as the producer has just revealed a new track under his AFX moniker. He’s released a score of new music recently — from his new LP SYRO, to that treasure trove of unreleased SoundCloud tunes, to the Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 2 EP — but this marks some of the British musicians first AFX material in a decade.

Cut from the upcoming Orphaned Deejay Selek (2006-2008) release, “oberheim blacet1b” actually originally debuted on a PSA mixcloud show a few days ago, but was interspersed with the DJ speaking over the tune. As Reddit users point out, however, the track has since been played on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC Radio 6 program, clean, clear and without interruption.

You can listen to the uninterrupted version of the song at the BBC (click forward to the 02:38:25 mark), and check out the mixcloud version below (if you’re up for ignoring those annoying voice overs).

Orphaned Deejay Selek (2006-2008) is out August 21st on Warp. Check out the first release from the eight-track album, “serge fenix Rendered 2”, here.
