New Orleans rapper Pell has released a new song called “Vacation (Whole Week)”, but his career has been anything but that so far. In 2014, he released his debut album, Floating While Dreaming, and a year later he’s already hitting the stage at Lollapalooza. Now he’s in the studio with TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek working on his sophomore record, which he plans to release this fall.

“Vacation (Whole Week)” is a triumphant victory lap for a young rapper at the nascent of his career. Over a breezy beat, Pell delivers an effortless flow that boasts his accomplishments. It’s a complete summer jam, with jagged guitar samples and piano flourishes. There’s truth to the chorus as he raps, “I’ve been grinding all year, I’mma need a whole week”. Pell has the confidence and talent to make such boisterous claims and with his work ethic it won’t be surprising when it takes him to the top.
