The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn shares new song “Maggie, I’ve Been Searching for Our Son” — listen

Taken from his first solo album in three years, Faith in the Future

On September 11th, The Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn will release Faith in the Future, the follow-up to 2012’s Clear Heart Full Eyes. Due out through Partisan Records, the new solo album was recorded in Woodstock, New York and produced by Josh Kaufman (The National, Josh Ritter).

Following last month’s “Newmyer’s Roof”, Finn has let loose the rolling, piano-infused anthem “Maggie, I’ve Been Searching for Our Son”. According to the singer-songwriter, the track was one of the earliest songs completed for Faith in the Future.  “It felt like a lead song for the LP right away,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “The song is about someone at the end of their time on earth, looking back on their life, but also trying to wrap up a few loose ends.” Listen in below.

Shortly after the release of the LP, Finn will tour the US.
