The Libertines debut new song “Barbarians” in Maida Vale session — listen

Reunion album, Anthems For Doomed Youth, arrives in September

The Libertines are gearing up to release their reunion album, Anthems For Doomed Youth, on September 4th via Harvest Records/Virgin EMI. The highly-anticipated follow-up to 2004’s The Libertines was previously previewed with “Gunga Din”. Now, the band’s offered another glimpse with the opening track “Barbarians”.

Pete Doherty & co. debuted the ramshackle number during their Maida Vale set on BBC Radio 1 this afternoon, reportedly their first such radio session in about 13 years. If the song sounds familiar to UK-based Libertines fans, it’s because they’d performed it live at T in the Park earlier this month. Listen in below (scroll to the 7:50 mark).
