CyHi the Prynce holds Kanye West hostage on his brutal new song “Elephant in the Room” — listen

Georgia rapper calls out his former labels and mentor

CyHi the Prynce once considered Kanye West and his fellow G.O.O.D. Music mates as mentors and close colleagues. The Georgia rapper even appeared on Kanye’s masterpiece My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Over the years, however, it seems those bonds have all but crumbled.

The estrangement is likely due to a number of factors, including the fact that CyHi — unlike Big Sean and Pusha T — has never once put out a full-length through G.O.O.D., nor its parent label Def Jam. Adding insult to injury, a press release (via The FADER) notes that the MC’s been recently “released” from his Def Jam contract.

All the tension and dissatisfaction has finally caught up with CyHi, manifesting itself in the form of a new song called “Elephant in the Room”. Here, he takes a number of swings at his former labels and friends, and rather explicitly so. Echoing the biting song’s own bullet-riddled production, the Stone Mountain native talks about shooting up an office and holding Yeezy hostage. “Ain’t gon be no new Yeezy album,” he raps, “Cause he in the trunk with his mouth taped/ And his wrists wrapped.” Industry folks may not have been paying enough attention to CyHi before, but it’s likely that isn’t the case any longer.
