Jim James, the frontman of My Morning Jacket, has shared a new solo track called “Take Care of You”. The track is his first solo material since 2013’s Regions of Light and Sound of God, but it doesn’t stem from a project of his own. Instead, the song is featured on the soundtrack to Jon Erick Dowdle’s forthcoming film No Escape.

“Take Care of You” opens with guitar notes that fall like sporadic rain drops through the hazy atmosphere. Drums push heavy into the ground as they lift the song up into the kind of soaring psychedelic-indie rock blend MMJ fans are well versed in. All the while, James delivers the touching message, “‘Cause I know there’s a bad, bad, bad way things could go/ Then I know/ Well, I know, know, know I’d take care of you.”

As you can see from the trailer below, “Take Care of You” doesn’t quite sonically match the action-thriller that is No Escape, though it certainly connects lyrically. When Owen Wilson moves his family to Southeast Asia, things suddenly go a “bad, bad, bad way” when a violent coup puts a target on the back of all foreigners. With the help of Pierce Brosnan, Wilson’s character must do whatever’s necessary to “take care of” his family, including his wife portrayed by Lake Bell.

No Escape opens August 26th, with the soundtrack available digitally beginning tomorrow, August 21st, from Lakeshore Records. Watch the trailer below.
