Angel Haze flexes her pop prowess on new song “Moonrise Kingdom” — listen

Another promising cut off her forthcoming Back to the Woods project

Angel Haze may be a dragon when it comes to spitting fire bars, but the MC also sports an arsenal of pop chops. We saw her flex these skills during her mighty “30 Gold” series, where she took on Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” with both poise and power.

This week, the Dirty Gold rapper revisits her pop prowess on “Moonrise Kingdom”, the latest single off her forthcoming Back to the Woods album. The track’s brooding production suggests a fierce hip-hop number, but Haze leaves the rhymes at home in favor of vocals that swing high and low like an emotional rollercoaster. We always knew she could devastate with her words; now, we know she’s legitimately a rapping and singing force to be reckoned with.

Back to the Woods is due out on September 14th. For more, check out “Babe Ruthless” and “Impossible”.
