When eight-year-old Archer Nelson learned his mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer, it was understandably hard to comprehend. As a way to help himself deal with the sad news, the budding songwriter penned a simple ode entitled “Boob Spelled Backwards is Boob” about fighting through the hardships that lay ahead. Archer’s father, Mike Nelson, happens to be a morning host on San Francisco’s KFOG Radio, and his son’s lyrics gave him an idea.

Over the last eight months, Nelson and his KFOG associates have been asking as many artists as they could to contribute a little bit to “Boob Spelled Backwards is Boob”. With their voices and instruments all coming together, what resulted is a star-studded charity single just in time for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Supporting the #BoobProject, the single features the likes of Florence Welch, Hozier, Elle KingGrace Potter, Milky Chance, Steve Earle, Tony Hadley, and ZZ Ward on vocals. What’s more, musicians such as Noel Gallagher, Grateful Dead‘s Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann, Bleachers, Michael Franti, and Vance Joy provided instrumentation for the track.

You can find a full list of contributors at the end of the track’s video, which opens with a message from Archer and features clips of all the artists recording their parts. To donate to the #BoobProject, head to the official website. “Boob Spelled Backwards is Boob” will be available for purchase beginning October 1st, with all proceeds going to benefit breast cancer research.
