The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach brought his new project, The Arcs, to Philly last night in support of debut album Yours, Dreamily, released in September. Over the course of the 85-minute set, Auerbach mixed slow and uptempo songs, full of his signature blues rock and ’60s soul vibe. He was backed not only by his own band, but by three members of the opening act, Grammy-nominated Mariachi Flor de Toloache, turning out highlights “Pistol Made of Bones”, “Outta My Mind”, and particularly “Chains of Love”. Though the Arcs get slapped with the term “side project,” the show made the act seem like the beginning of something rather than just a detour.
