Eric Bachmann has shown the world so many different versions of himself — first as the frontman of Archers of Loaf, then as the main man behind Crooked Fingers. The musician and producer is now ready to unveil another side with his forthcoming self-titled solo album.

Due out this spring through Merge, Bachmann’s first solo album under his name since 2006’s To The Races marks the official ending of his Crooked Fingers project and “the beginning of a candid new sound.”

“There is less of an externalized character to be responsible to,” Bachmann notes in an official statement, referring to the narrative roles he took on while in Archers of Loaf and Crooked Fingers. “When I think about why I am compelled to put my own name on a thing as a proper title now, all of these various perspectives feel unnecessary.”

Ahead of the March 25th release date, Bachmann has unveiled the lead single, a majestic proclamation of undying love called “Mercy”. Check it out below.

In support of the new album, Bachmann has mapped out a US spring tour.
