Wait, wasn’t Coldplay supposed to headline the Super Bowl, because no one told Beyoncé

The Queen just saved the day

Beyonce Queen

This year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show was billed as featuring Coldplay as headliners with accompaniment from “special guests” Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. Apparently no one told Beyoncé that, because her performance of “Formation” is likely the only thing you’ll remember 50 years from now.

It helps that Coldplay’s pre-recorded medley of “Yellow”, “Viva La Vida”, and “Paradise” was about as pedestrian as the New York Giants’ 2015 season, and Mars aped Prince right down to the afro and hip thrusts. But even if Coldplay did plug in, and Mars learned the definition of originality, Beyoncé would have remained the true headliner queen of the Super Bowl thanks to a stunning combo of visuals, choreography, and of course, singing. The Michael Jackson tribute was also a nice touch.

Following the performance, Beyoncé announced a world tour, while Chris Martin sadly walked to James Corden’s car for a return trip of hacky karaoke.
