Bat for Lashes shares powerful video for “In God’s House” — watch

In which Natasha Khan's bride character mourns the loss of her lover

Bat for Lashes’s upcoming album The Bride tells the tragic story of a woman who loses her fiancé to a car crash on the day of their wedding. The new video for lead single “In God’s House” captures the aftermath of this life-altering accident and the devastation she is now forced to confront.

Co-directed by John De Menil, the clip follows the widow (played by Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan) as she visits her fiancé’s grave out in the middle of the California desert at sunset. Khan — dressed in a waist-length fur coat, red dress, and red veil (hello, symbolism!) — can be seen grieving while also offering an emotional performance of “In God’s House”. It’s powerful stuff to be sure.
