Multi-instrumentalist Colin Stetson, who has frequently toured and recorded with Arcade Fire and Bon Iver, will release a new solo album on April 8th. Well, the album isn’t exactly new.
Entitled SORROW, it’s a re-imagining of Symphony No. 3 by Polish composer Henryk Górecki that features contributions from Sarah Neufeld, Rebecca Foon, Liturgy drummer Greg Fox, and others. Stetson has updated the symphony, originally composed in 1976, with new arrangements that incorporate synths and electric guitars alongside classical orchestral instruments.
Stetson has been sharing pieces of his symphony throughout March, starting with “Sorrow III (Extract II)”. Today, he has shared another piece, “Sorrow III (Extract I)”. Listen in below.
