Diarrhea Planet cover AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” — watch

Nashville rockers pay tribute to AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson

With Brian Johnson officially out of AC/DC (whether he wants to be or not), the iconic rockers are in the market for a replacement singer. During Infinity Cat Recordings’ SXSW showcase last week, Music Band frontman Harry Kagan delivered what could be seen as an unintentional audition for the part.

Kagan joined fellow Infinity Cat signees Diarrhea Planet on stage to sing vocals for the band’s cover of “Thunderstruck”. Obviously, the four-headed guitar beast that is DP slayed the song with typically playful, face-melting aplomb. The big surprise was Kagan’s voice; normally a steady, mid-ranged rumble, it becomes an eerily close pastiche of Johnson’s own instantly identifiable delivery. Even his stoic confidence is a perfect fit for the type of hard rock glory on which AC/DC is built.

Check out the epic performance below, and to AC/DC’s people, feel free to hit up Music Band — tell ’em Consequence of Sound sent you.
